Process
By bringing together contemporary knife-making techniques from around the world, we create high-performance, accessible knives.
FE blades are made from premium steel supplied by two renowned Japanese steel manufacturers. Japanese steel is our benchmark. We continuously research new steels and adopt materials that match or exceed it.
Each blade is shaped by high-precision CNC machining with tolerances of up to 0.01 mm. Beyond accuracy, this step takes over the most dangerous parts of traditional knife-making, improving safety for our craftsmen while guaranteeing that every blade meets the same exacting standard.
Machined to a tolerance finer than a human hair.
The blades are heat-treated in a vacuum furnace and gas-quenched to minimize distortion and ensure consistent performance, then undergo cryogenic treatment at sub-zero temperatures. Every production batch is tested to verify hardness.
Vacuum-treated and gas-quenched for consistent performance.
The final sharpening is always performed by hand by an experienced craftsman. Handle assembly and surface finishing are done the same way. Each knife is then inspected for handle fit, sharpness, and straightness, and every production batch is tested for hardness.
